Since the book was released in October of 2008, many things have occurred. No, the book is not on the Best Seller list; we haven't sold thousands in Amazon or the other online bookstores; but many lives have been touched and changed. If one live can be saved by my story, it is worth it. Lately, I have been sharing my story on the radio and in churches and I was featured in a local bilingual magazine, El Vocero. The book is doing what it was supposed to do. Helping people.
I know for a fact, the book has touched many lives. Those who have read the book from, professionals to the everyday man or woman, they all have been impacted by the story because it's not just a story; the novel is based on actual events that happened in the live of the main character, Olivia. And by now you know, that this book is my life's story.
Now I find myself working in the prison ministry with the church, my husband and I attend, and I have meet some wonderful women that are in prison for past mistakes and I have shared my story with them; I have given my books away for them to read and they have told me how grateful they are and how they can identify with the things that happened to me. They are reading the book and passing it over to other women in prison.
I am also working as a volunteer with a battered women ministry in the New Orleans area, helping a ministry that have dedicated their lives to helping women and in many instances, by giving them a place to stay, many times in hiding because these women fear for their lives. Yes, there is hope and there is a way out of this terrible prison of abuse and despair. The same way God gave me a way out, anyone can be free from the nightmare of physical, verbal and sexual abuse.
God is taking my story to many people that need it. My story can help by giving hope to those who think that they are hopeless. So, spread the word. If you are a victim or were a victim, or know someone who is, get the book give it away because your life and their lives of those that are suffering will be changed.
It was a great investment in our part by getting the book out; money, time and to relive many episodes in my life wasn't easy; but nothing can compare to the greatest investment God made for you and me. By giving His only Son to take our place in death row, so we could live and be with Him forever in this earth and in Heaven.
